Summer 2010 Hot Trend: Jelly Sandals

A hot new trend (or re vamped version of it) for Summer 2010 that's been popping up all over runways and in stores is the Jellies/Jelly sandals. A few years back when Jelly gladiators came out, I refused to even give them a second look. Something about them just screamed out "9 year old's footwear" to me.
Now I'm seeing them in a whole new light. A friend of mine showcased her new pair and they actually looked 10x better then I would imagine rubber sandals being able to look and... dare I say even sophisticated?

Here are my favorite styles below:

Splurge vs steal: Cynthia Vincent Luella Wedge

As soon as these shoes where seen on Vanessa Hudgens, they sold out in stores everywhere!
Personally, I think these shoes are hot (lovin' the zipper detail down the middle as well as the gladiator style) and are available at Singer22.

They remind me so much of the Nine West Heech I bought last year when THOSE wedges took the blogger world by storm.

Below I also found some cheaper alternatives for those of you on a budget or who just don't want to spend hundreds on a wedge.

The Bakers.com version is by Jessica Simpson for about 1/4th of the price. Just like the Cynthia Vincent wegde, it's also available in black.

Hot trend for Winter 2009: Knee High Boots

This season boots are back, preferably thigh high.
Here are my top picks from Target for cheap winter boots that that look chic too:

The bad news is that these are on sale and only available in selected sizes so hurry!
The third pair reminds me of the boots Kim Kardashian was seen wearing some time back while pumping gas and shopping in Hollywood.

Thank You Ralph for These Lovely Shoes

Ah, new shoes. At least my addictions are all based upon consumer goods. :) I picked up these lovely little wedges at Off Broadway for $38, they are the Celestine wedges from Ralph Lauren's less expensive line, Lauren. And I have to say, because the straps are stretchy, these shoes look so much better on than they do all alone in the box.

I love a well-stocked clearance rack...it's like panning for gold. You will likely run into plenty of ugly rocks and pebbles, but when you find gold, the skies part and that little ray of sunshine beams down on those lovely pair of shoes. Yes, I exaggerate, but these wedges are not only adorable, but they are also very, very comfortable. I can't wait to wear them on the beach in just a few days!

And, although it is the end of the summer season, I think these little wedges will transition well into next summer, too. If you're looking for a pair for yourself, these beauties are currently on sale on the Ralph Lauren website for $39.99 down from $79.00. They are offered in silver, black and bronze.

What do you think of these wedges?

Walking in high heels

I came across an extremely usefull article I think every woman should read (well, all of us who have shoe fetish). It explains everything from walking in heels, to possible long term problems ocurring when not done properly.

Some important tidbits I thought needed to be shared:
  • Stilettos require constant balance from the upper leg, causing the muscles of
the backside to tense and appear pert and ready for mating...
  • To walk gracefully in high heels, take short steps, as opposed to long strides, and come down in a heel-toe, heel-toe motion, with most of the weight distributed on the ball of the foot...

On six inch heels (but also regular heel wearers):
I wanted to hear from you guys: do you wear heels on a daily basis? Or only sometimes?
If so when? How high are your heels usually? Feel free to share your point of view.

I'll wear 4 inch heels. Not higher. I can't walk very long in them either to be honest but I love how they instantly spice up a simple outfit. Even if they are 3 inch heels. I'm also avoiding the THIN stilleto's ever since I almost fell on them. But everyday I'm usually wearing flats/sandals.
  • If the ball of the foot does not touch the floor, then the heels are too
high for the foot and must not be worn standing up. If all the weight is on the
toes only, severe damage will be caused that could need surgery to be corrected.
To be able to walk in heels this high, it's probably necessary to be an imperial
    (British) size seven or above...
  • Walking in six-inch heels is very different to walking in two-inch, or even four-inch heels, so be very careful and don't rush...
  • Under no circumstances drive a car with your heels on. Not only do you have less control over the car, but it will damage your shoes - and they aren't cheap at this height. Keep spare shoes in the car for driving, or have someone drive you.
  • Wearing extremely high heels can damage the feet, especially if the toes are pointed, or the shoes are too tight. Damage can sometimes be so extreme that the sufferer can never wear any high heel ever again.
  • Standing for long periods of time in high heels can cause deep vein thrombosis (DVT), although standing even in low heels carries this risk. This is a condition in which blood clots form in deep veins, mainly in the legs. DVT has also been linked to sitting for long periods of time, especially when there is not much room to move the legs. Any movement of the legs can help to prevent this.

Miu Miu ad campaign Fall/Winter 2008-2009

Yes! Miu Miu's newest ad campaign starring Vanessa Paradis is finally out for the world to see. The 35 yr old French singer has replaced Kirsten Dunst this season as the Miu Miu girl. Paradis looks gorgeous apart from the overload of blush and powder (sorry had to say it), but I guess it adds drama. I was able to peel my eyes away from that though and gush over the handbags..

Your thoughts on the campaign and bags/shoes?

P.s. anyone noticing a trend in bowler bags?

How To Wear Bright Shoes

Ever since Spring, brights have been a really big trend. From the runway to the streets: pink, blue, green, yellow, red, purple, orange, turquoise and lime. You name it and you'll get a variety of shoes to pick from. So how do you integrate bright shoes into your ensemble? Here are a few basic rules:
  • Match your shoes with a color in your top. Some find this look a bit boring. I personally love seeing things being mixed up too and people being more daring. But matching in this way continues to make a stylish statement, so don’t feel obligated to mis-match if it’s not your style.
  • Wear several brights of the same intensity. By this I mean, for instance, wearing a blue dress, with a red clutch and a yellow handbag.- sure it's daring but it's also modern, creative and it works. Throw in a pastel (pink for instance) and you will look like one hot mess. I'm definatly planning on experimenting with this "rule".
  • Match bright shoes with the same color handbag. Though this look works perfectly for black and neutrals shoes and bags, I cringe when I see too much green, yellow or other bright colors; it's a bit predictable. These rules are pretty much flop proof, but I'm just saying: try and get a bit more creative.
My advice is to experiment with Polyvore; even if you don't see the exact items you own on there, you can always get an idea of what the whole outfit will look like.
  • Wear bright shoes with a neutral ensemble. This is my favorite look. Brights really pop against beige, tan, white and black outfits. You don’t need to match shoes with your handbag or pick up another colour in your ensemble.
I  avoid buying bright shoes with a patterns. They only compliment a limited number of outfits and can usually only be worn with solid-colored clothing items. Red shoes are a particularly good choice because they’re bright, but operate as a neutral.

Shoe Du Jour: Pour La Victoirre Babette

Gah! I wish I' d seen these when doing my online shopping the other day. However, I've put somewhat of a shopping ban on myself.. Till I go to London that is.. Feast your eyes on these babies from Urban Outfitters.
Very fun and modern and they'd probably go well with everything. Pour La Victoire Babette Heel - $139.99 (was $198)

Shoes: Forever 21

Is it weird that I have been scoping out the F21 shoe section lately? It seems they have really stepped up their game in the shoe department. All items are under $25.

Edit: I knew those pink heeled shoes looked familiar. They're a Chloe replica.
Oh and I stumbles across a blogger rockin' those ADORABLE shoes (the second one at the top) in pink and beige (they remind me of Miu Miu):

Need some new shoes pronto? Not getting paid for a few weeks, but absolutely have to have something to make your outfit complete? No worries take out a cash advance, and buy whatever you need!
