Cubicle to Cocktails: Cute Little Dress Edition

Happy Thursday to all! Today's edition of CTC features an adorable black and white stretch cotton dress with really cool cutouts.

For the cubicle look, toss on a white "girlfriend" blazer and adorable leetle wedges. (Target!) To amp it up for cocktail hour slip on some hot black heels and a blue croc belt. I'm also really loving the diamond studs - gorgeous!

So, ladies - what do you think? The cocktail look could easily transition to a wedding ensemble, too!

Cubicle to Cocktails...Really Delicious, Expensive Cocktails!

Happy Thursday everyone! Because I got some very kind feedback, I have decided to continue the Thursday Special: Cubicle to Cocktails!

As I noted last week, I'm a big fan of dresses for the transitional look...they are just so easy. And the particular dress below may seem a bit dressy for the office, and that's ok! I know many ladies who have a bundle of great dresses and just need a bit of updated, more office appropriate styling.

So, I took a floral satin piece and warmed it up with a basic white button down, toasty little cardigan and nude fishnets. If you're more reserved you could certainly pull on opaque tights instead of the nude fishies.

To move this into cocktail attire, I just removed the plain button down and added a slate gray velvet jacket an loads 'o pearls.

What do you think?

Do you have any dresses that you could convert to chic office wear?

Line We Love :Winter Kate by Nicole Richie Spring 2010 Collection Preview

Nicole Richie released spring/summer 2010 look book images of her contemporary line, Winter Kate, on her official blog yesterday. According to her blog, the collection consists of approximately 40 pieces: dresses – long and short, blouses, tunics, vests, bed jackets, kimono tops and more structured jackets, in vintage silk crepe and vintage silk chiffon, some with fringe and handcrafted embroidery or cotton macramé details. The collection is inspired by timeless prints and shapes; beautiful paisley and florals that have been vintage washed and some have been over-dyed for that classic feel. The line also reflects Nicole’s love of vintage and classic. If you’re a fan of the line, the collection is slated to release in February 2010.

Dressing for Date Night...Under $100!

Happy Monday, everyone! (Is that an oxymoron..."Happy Monday"?)

I wanted to start of this week looking forward to Friday....I will be seeing a bunch of great friends from college, so I'm already thinking about going out! That inspired my "dresses for date night" polyvore set below.

All the dresses featured are under $100. Additionally, all the shoes are under $30! I know...what a steal.

Enjoy!

What's your fave ensemble for date night...or girls night out...or ?

Date Night Dresses Under $100

Target Trip

I needed mascara, so of course I had to check out Target's clothing selection...here are just a few items I tried on. Please be easy on me...this is the first time I'm posting pictures of myself!

Merona Short Sleeve Dress - Geo Print
I saw this frock online and thought it looked adorable on the model, albeit a bit safari-esque. I grabbed an XS and took a trip to the dressing room.

Kinda cute, but it runs fairly large; I had to belt quite a bit of fabric. And, because I'm fun size, it was way too long on me. This style comes in solids, too.

Mossimo Supply Co. Pleated Tank

For $9.99 I would buy practically anything. This pleated tank comes in a variety of colors, the aqua and the bright orange are both very pretty in person. I tried an XS and although I love the scoop neck with the pleating, but it's a bit wide at the bottom...almost too unfinished for my liking. I look quite hippy. The width is just about the same for a S and XS. Maybe if it was tucked in with a wide leather belt I'd enjoy it more?

Gigi just reviewed a bunch of super cute dresses from Target...

Friday Special: Break The Bank or Save Your Bank

This morning's edition of Break It or Save It features bright, coral dresses with structured sleeves, woven aquamarine bags, beaded bracelets and white, studded heels. I came across the Save It dress while I was perusing BCBG's online sale section. It seems like they are always running some type sale, and if you can time it right you can score some major goods online or in-store.

How about your bank - Break It for approximately $2400 or pay one-tenth with the Save It option?

Happy Friday!

Shift Your Attitude

Simple shifts are popping up everywhere and on everyone, from Michelle Obama to Eva Mendes. I really like a shift as it's very versatile. You can dress it up or down, belt it, stack on a pretty statement necklace, wear it to work or a wedding, etc. It's the uber dress and a definite classic. Oh, and if you're wondering, Michelle Obama's shift was designed by Michael Kors. Lovely!

While I was out of town for work yesterday, I had time to kill between meetings so I wandered into a local thrift shop. I walked out with an adorable black shift and 70s inspired red woven belt for $6....total. Super score.

So, if you're feeling adventurous, check out your local thrift stores as you never know what you'll find. Shifts were big in the 50s and 60s as well as the late 90s, so there are definitely little treasures to be found in vintage and consignment shops.

But, if you prefer to buy your duds "fresh" here is a compilation of my current faves!

Happy Wednesday!

Wedding looks!

Happy Tuesday! Below are three distinct looks I conjured up for affordable wedding season...all I can do is try to make your attire affordable...it's totally up to you if you walk out of Williams & Sonoma with a $400 copper pot! Let me know your thoughts!

Wedding Look #1

Garden Wedding: This red dress and fun accessories would pair great with an outdoor ceremony or reception. I LOVE this dress. If you have a great back this would look amazing. Dress is by French Connection if you like!

Wedding Look #2

Semi-formal wedding: I don't like wearing long dresses to a wedding, so this black dress option is lovely but still demure enough to pull off a look at a fancy pants wedding. The bright shoes make it a bit less stuffy.

Wedding Look #3

Evening wedding: This one shoulder, Grecian dress is a great option that can be dressed up or down. The metallic shoes and accessories make this dress a great evening option! And hey, I know the multi-colored python bag is a bit much, but the colors pop!
