Falling Forward: Fall Boots Less Than $100

Hey there! Hope everyone enjoyed a great weekend!

Although it's 1,000 degrees out right now, I am already thinking about fall. It's my fave season and I love chunky knits, leather boots and skinnies. I would also love to skip pedicures a bit more often and put my feet back into socks. But that's for another day...

To celebrate my love for boots and for fall I handpicked a bunch of boots that I'm crushin' on. And the kicker - all of them are less than $100. (and some of them are authentic leather - woot!)

Are you excited for fall?!

Celebrity Style Stalker: MTV Movie Awards

Hi all! It's time for some style stalkin'!

These lovely ladies were dressed to the nines for the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday and I wanted to offer up a few inspired dresses!

First up is the adorable and talented, Anna Kendrick...

I love the diaphanous chiffon and the sweet cut on this dress. The pattern is also a bit nutty, but because it's short and sweet, I can certainly handle it. And do you see her shoes - fierce!

While this dress is not as formal, the chiffon looks lovely and it's certainly a fun print!

Or, if you're a long dress kinda gal...here's a lovely, albeit bright, chiffon number...

Next up is the gorgeous Scarlet Johannson in a stunning green lace sheath. I love her whole look here...the emerald green is stunning, the fit is impeccable and her hair and makeup are spot on.

And, well, it's no surprise that it's mighty difficult to find a green lace sheath anywhere besides the top tier designers, here is an adorable green eyelet sheath by Shoshanna!

And a white lace sheath, just for fun. How adorable would this little number be for a casual wedding dress?! And it's on saaaale!

Let's not can't forget to include the radiant new momma, Sandra Bullock!

While Sandra's stunning black dress was backless, the one below is fully covered in the back.

Last but not least, Ms. Cameron Diaz and her 89 mile legs...

The dress she's wearing is DVF and while I love me some DVF, I searched for a few more affordable options...

Cart Ditching & Sale Stalking at The Limited

Hi everyone! I don't typically post on the weekend, but some sales are worth stalking. Does anyone else shop a retailer, fill up a cart and abandon it? I seem to do that often. Cold feet? Maybe. Preemptive cognitive dissonance (shopper's remorse)? Probably.

Regardless, I cart ditched at The Limited even though they are running a great promotion and have a stellar sale section to boot. Per Ms. Chloe, The Limited is offering the following sweet promos through 06/17/2010:
  • Take $30 off your purchase $90+ or $20 off of your purchase of $60+: Code 516
  • Take 20% off your entire order, including sale: Code 165
  • Take 30% off almost all dresses, no code necessary, prices as marked.
Also, most (if not all) scarves are 50% off and The Limited has some lovely, lovely scarves. Below are a few things that I may or may not have cart ditched...happy shopping!

Cheap Thrills - Apps

Hi everyone!

Today's edition of cheap thrills is a fun one for all of those with smart phones. Don't have a smart phone? Well, then please revel in the Shopstyle set of cheap thrills below.

I love my iPhone. I love it so much. And, over the past six months or so, I have acquired some really fun apps. Here are a few of my faves:
  • ESPN Score Center- actually, this is hubs' favorite, but it's so convenient to grab the latest scores from your fave teams
  • Twitter (formerly Tweetie) - Now the "official" app for Twitter, this app is great for those of you addicted to tweetin'
  • ShopStyle - I love that I can save my favorites for later and easily access them on my phone. I just wish it were integrated with my online account.
  • Gossip Junkie - All gossip, from all the outlets, all the time, pulled into one smooth app.
  • Yelp - The perfect app for me to access reviews of restaurants and local businesses, get directions and generally have too much fun on my iPhone.
  • FlightTrack - The best flight tracker app out there. Totally worth the $2 or $4 I paid for it.
And onto my shopping set! What's your favorite iPhone app?

Cheap Thrills: 31 Flavors & Visiting Planet Chubbs

You know, it kills me when I'm plowing through a dessert and someone (usually not someone I know well) says, "I'm just not a dessert person." Ex-squeeze me? I must have mis-heard you. We're not friends anymore.

But seriously, I love my sweets and ice cream in particular. I've noticed that my weekly editions of (personal) Cheap Thrills have focused quite a bit on food as of late - what can I say, I likes to eat. It's a good thing I also like to run, or I'd be a brick house - and not in a good way. All things in moderation, folks. As my friend Cathy and I like to say, let's not visit Planet Chubbs too often - just once in a while...

So, in honor of the cool, sweet treat, here are some of my fave flaves at Baskin Robbins:
  • Strawberry Shortcake: Not too sweet with just enough strawberry chunks and shortcake bits to make me drool.
  • Peanut Butter & Chocolate: One of my classic picks as a kid, I still dream about this flavor in my sleep.
  • Snickers: It is what it says - pure Snicker-y deliciousness.
  • Mint Chocolate Chip: My brother's favorite and a nice minty treat.
And onto today's set...I'm going to start using ShopStyle for my Cheap Thrills sets. I can fit much, much more into each edition and it's easier to use! Enjoy!

What's YOUR favorite of the 31 flavors?!

Tricky Trend: Rompity Rompers

Hi everyone!

Today's Tricky Trend is the romper. Otherwise known as the jumper or the playsuit, the romper is a tricky little trend as many women can feel childish in their onesie. ha. I've heard many friends state that they could "never wear" a romper. I disagree - I think most women could rock a romper...as long as some thought is put into the look beforehand.

Here are my romper rules that will help you from feeling like a three-year-old at daycare...
  • Pay attention to fit: You're probably saying, "Durrrr, Coley". Yes. Of course you will pay attention to the fit. BUT, because rompers are all one piece, make sure that they highlight your best assets. This means that if you have great legs, don't buy a romper with fugly long shorts. If you have great arms, make sure the cut of the sleeve is favorable. Tiny waist? Make sure the romper is elasticized or can be cinched. While this may seem fairly obvious, I've seen some ladies in particularly heinous rompers.
  • Keep in mind the fabric and the use: The cool thing about most rompers is that you can easily transition them from day to night. One main caveat to this is the fabric choice. A cotton or linen-blend romper may look great at the beach, but it's going to be tougher to transition into cocktail wear. On the other hand, a light-weight silk romper can serve double duty. I personally favor the more luxe looking rompers, but to each her own!
  • Watch your assets: Keeping in mind the fit (see above), make sure none of your assets are hanging out. The romper is a fun piece, but because it's assembled into one piece, you can't really adjust the fit very much. If your assets are even slightly on display, just say no. You need to size up or find something else.
  • Don't drink too much: You may not think about this until the situation arises, but rompers aren't great for heavy drinking situations. Every time you have to head to the ladies' room, the whole thing has to come down. This is especially obnoxious if your romper features buttons, a belt, or some other bathroom-hindering device.
So, those are just a few of my romper rules. Here's a little set of a few of my favorite rompers...

Do you rock the romper? Any tips or tricks to add?

Cubicle to Cocktails - Wide Leg Trouser Edition

Hello all!

Today's edition of Cubicle to Cocktails features wide leg trousers and reptile print pumps. I'm a fan of wide leg trousers, but I also understand that they don't look great on everyone. That being said, you can work with the width and cut to make it work for you. I'm vertically challenged, so I make sure that my pants are a bit more fitted in the hip and thigh so I don't look like I'm trying to wear big boy pants.

If you're on the tall side, you can be a bit more liberal with your width, as your height will save ya. As for you curvier girls, wide leg trousers can look super on you too, just make sure they fit well in the waist and hip, you want to show some shape so your curves aren't drowning in the pants.

So, here we are - what do you think? I'm also seeing a ton of corsets coming out and I think they look amazing under jackets or belted with wide leg pants - it's a nice juxtaposition.

Give a little click to the ShopStyle set below to check out the looks and let me know what you think!
