Cubicle to Cocktails: Washed Silk Blouses
Hey everyone!
Hope y'all are having a super week!
Today's edition of CTC features one of my favorite all season layering pieces - the silk shirt. No, this is not your brother's silk shirt from a 1989 homecoming dance. This is a pretty, flowy, feminine shirt that works well with work and cocktail apparel. I imagine plenty of mileage from a great silk blouse.
The top featured below is quite pricey, at $178. However, I saw a very similar top at Ann Taylor just a few weeks ago on super sale. Plus, check out the bottom Shopstyle piece for more silk shirt-spiration.
So friends, are you fans of the versatile silk shirt?!

Cubicle to Cocktails: A Little More Ann Taylor
Hi all! Only one more day 'til Friday. Thank God.
For today's edition of Cubicle to Cocktails, I wanted to send a little more love to Ann Taylor. The designers over at AT are surrriouly working it out. Bra-vo.
I love a sheer shirt with a pencil skirt and some punchy peep toes for the cubicle look. This top makes an easy transition to a casual cocktail look with some bright straw wedges (hello yellow). The bag and the necklace can also come along for cocktails, bringing some bling and an extra pop of color.
BTW - the skirt shown in the cubicle look (J. Crew's Unagi Tweed Pencil Skirt in Antique Violet) is super intriguing to me. Love love love that color. Anyone tried it on?

Cubicle to Cocktails: Major Love for Ann Taylor
Hi all! Today's edition of Cubicle to Cocktails features one of my newest dress obsessions - this one is currently available at Ann Taylor - the Knit Jersey Drape Neck Dress. The dress retails for $98 and it looks suuuper versatile. Chloe, from The Chloe Conspiracy, models it so well here!
I think this dress would work very well in a variety of office setting and cocktail situations alike. While knit jersey isn't every chic's best friend, I'm guessing that this particular cut would work well with a variety of body types/shapes. Part of me thinks that the work look is a bit too patriotic for my tastes, but hey, I gave it a go. As for the cocktail look, this dress would look fantastic with some colorful sandals -the ones below are mighty colorful, and I dig it.
Oh, and through February 28, Ann Taylor is offering 30% off of all online purchases $100+ with the code SHOP30. Happy shopping!

Ann Taylor has never been my favorite store, nor has Ann Taylor Loft. BUT, I have to give out some may-jah props to Ann Taylor (& Loft) for reinventing their product line.
Growing up, I always thought of Ann Taylor as strictly the place for boring suiting separates, kind of a snoozefest compared to Banana Republic or Nordstroms. Clearly, they got the message because in May of this year they brought on designer Lisa Axelson to freshen up the line and offer more current day to night transition items.
Additionally, Ann Taylor Loft brought on famous jewelry designer Lisa Salzar of Lulu Frost who created a line of adorable necklaces that are finally available online! She also created a great bracelet that donates $5 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (October is Breast Cancer Awareness month). The bracelet retails for $24.50.
If you're looking to make some big fall purchases, you can buy an Ann Cares card for $25 and receive 20% off of every Ann Taylor & Ann Taylor purchase in-store or online through November 15, 2009. They cite that 90% of card proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. And yes, you can use the card over and over again until the expiration date. Pretty good deal if you ask me!
