oy attended AIU with a full scholarship and in 1998 received her bachelor's degree in fashion.In 2005 Joy and her husband James Kim launched "Voom by Joy Han", a vintage inspired, edgy yet flirty contemporary line for the fashion forwardwoman. She is the sole designer for VOOM, the heart and soul of the company, and the original "VOOM Girl".

Since starting her own line, Joy has dressed the likes of many celebrities in the music and entertainment industry including: Jessica Alba, Eva Longoria, Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton, Katherine Heigl, Minnie Driver, Ghuliana Di Pandi, Avril Lavigne, and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
