Lenny Kravitz Unveils "Black and White America" Cover Album

Today, Oprah's show featured the smartest and most talented kids including Willow "Whip My Hair Back and Forth" Smith. Willow Smith was the co-host with Oprah and Lenny Kravitz made a guest appearance to inspire a teenage guitar genius.

During the show he unveiled the cover of his next upcoming album "Black and White America". Before the show, he also gave an interview.

Duruing the interview he discussed the inspiration for his new album which is usually his life. Lenny Kravitz always draws from whatever he's going through in his life. He recorded most of it in the Bahamas in a very remote place, where there were not many people. Far away from technology. Kravitz loves working that way because it's organic and true.

Lenny Kravitz will tour for a couple of years straight, starting from the beginning of the Fall. What does he take with him on his tour? Family pictures of family, his daughter, friends, family events. The road can be very ungrounded at times and these pictures are always good to look at.

Musical inspirations and mentors include: Miles Davis, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, Nina Simone, The Rolling Stones and many more. Discovered his passion for music when he was 5, he heard a symphony by Chikovsky, afterwards it was The Jackson 5.

Lenny Kravitz Announces New Album - Black and White America

Lenny Kravitz announced today on Facebook that the release of his highly-anticipated ninth studio album, "Black and White America" will be released this Summer 2011 on Atlantic Records/Roadrunner Records. It will be Lenny Kravitz’s first album on the new label.

"Black and White America" will be Kravitz's first release of new material in three years. It is said to be a rich rock and funk-infused collection filled with guitar riffs, compelling melodies and lyrics. Kravitz will also go on tour in June to support his new album.

"I am really excited for everyone to hear the music on Black and White America. Musically and lyrically, I feel it is the most diverse album of my career” states Lenny Kravitz.

"Black and White America" was recorded in Paris and the Bahamas. Lenny Kravitz produced, wrote and arranged the entire album.

The album’s standout tracks include “Stand, You’re Gonna Run Again,” with its melodic beats and rhythms, the inspirational and soul enriching “Push,” “Super Love,” a 70′s throwback to the days of funk with a weaving modern sound and the electrifying beat-driven “Booty Pop.” Also featured on the release is “Dream,” a piano ballad showing off a robust and emotional strings section, and the funk driven title track, which lyrically takes the listener on a journey inspired by his parents’ mixed-race marriage.

Before his album release and tour, Kravitz has been confirmed to headline the 2011 NBA All-Star Entertainment Series presented by American Express. The 60th NBA All-Star Game will air on Sunday, February 20th.

Lenny Kravitz on ‘Another Day’ Leak

Lenny Kravitz Michael Jackson
The snippet of ‘Another Day’, a collaboration between Michael Jackson and Lenny Kravitz has been removed from the internet. Sony BMG executives do not understand how it was leaked. Lenny Kravitz also made an announcement yesterday about the leak in a video (watch below).

“The song was recorded by Michael and myself. I produced it for him”. “I wrote the song and I played all the instruments on the track. It was one of the most amazing musical experiences that I’ve ever had.”

He hopes that a solution to the leak will be found soon, and that Michael Jackson’s fans will be able to hear it in its entirety as both Michael and him intended. Also the DJ which featured in the track wasn’t part of the track, which is good news as it really didn’t suit the song.

New Michael Jackson Song – Another Day

Michael Jackson Lenny Kravitz
An unreleased track from Michael Jackson has just leaked the internet. It’s a duet between Lenny Kravitz and MJ, and it’s titled “Another Day”. So far there’s only a 1:30 minute clip to be found, but it’s a good introduction to the song. The only negative part of the song in my opinion is the rapping, it seems to be unnecessary. Lenny Kravitz said the following to Spinner Magazine about working with Michael Jackson on this song:

“I got to work with Michael on a track that has not been released and it was the most amazing experience I’ve had in the studio. He was funny. Very funny and we laughed the whole time.”

A source does say that it’s an outtake of “Invincible”, and that it was remade in 2004 between Lenny Kravitz and Jay-Z. In any case it means a new song of Michael Jackson, which is a delight for his fans!

Lenny Kravitz To Boost Carla Bruni's Music Career

Lenny Kravitz received a letter from President Nicolas Sarkozy praising his work. "The president confessed he and his wife were massive fans - and they even named which of Lenny's songs were their favourites. He jumped at the chance to help out."

Lenny Kravitz and Carla Bruni know each other from "back in the day", and with such a compliment there's no way he could have refused to collaborate with her.

It's not the first time Lenny will help out boost someone's career, remember Vanessa Paradis' "Be My Baby"?

Never heard Carla Bruni sing? Check out the below video of "Quelqu'un m'a dit":
